Hospitality That Feels Real.

Rooted in the Midwest, built by people who care about where you stay.

Our Beginning

Stoney Creek Hotels was founded in 1994 by entrepreneur Jim Thompson with a simple idea: every guest should feel like they’ve found a cabin by the lake; a place that’s warm, welcoming, and easy to settle into.

That belief shaped everything that followed. From the earliest properties to today’s portfolio, Stoney Creek Hotels has focused on blending rustic character with modern comfort, creating spaces that feel familiar without being dated and thoughtful without trying too hard.

More than three decades later, that original vision still leads the way. We build hotels for real life travel; run by people who care, designed to feel right, and grounded in the places we call home.

Built to Feel Right

Rooted in the Midwest, we value hard work, clear communication, and showing up when it matters. We focus on doing things well—not loudly—and creating places that feel dependable and genuinely welcoming.

Our hotels are designed to be easy to settle into. Warm materials. Practical layouts. Comfort that supports how people actually travel—whether for business, family time, or something in between.

Good hospitality isn’t scripted. It’s thoughtful.

It’s noticing the details, solving problems quickly, and making people feel like they chose the right place to stay. Our teams are the foundation of that experience. We value accountability, ownership, and respect—for our guests and for each other.
